The research group Medical Visualization concentrates on the visualization of data from different areas of life sciences, namely medicine, veterinary medicine, bioinformatics, and biology. Regarding medicine, it works primarily on visual analyses for neuroscientific applications. One major product of the research group is the open source software OpenWalnut. The biological and bioinformatic applications of the group include metabolic networks, gene expression data and folding of macromolecules like RNA and proteins.
